Mileage That Matters

Cousins are those childhood playmates who grow up to be forever friends.

Thousands of runners will line up to run the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Columbus Marathon on October 21st, but none of them will line up with a heavier heart than Spencer Bownas, who is running his first ever marathon in memory of his cousin and friend … Capt. Nick Rozanski.

Separated in age by only 5 weeks, Spencer and Nick grew up as cousins but quickly became better friends. Whether they were playing soccer as kids, cheering for the Buckeyes or attending classes together at The Ohio State University, their lives were always intertwined.

Capt. Rozanksi, simply known as ‘CUZZ’ to Spencer, was no stranger to marathons himself having completed three. Since Nick’s death in April, Spencer has made it his mission to complete his first. Along with the goal of finishing, Spencer wants to raise $10,000 for the Nick Rozanski Memorial Foundation.

Why am I running?
I’m running be-CUZZ.
